This year’s annual programme 2024 with 3 projects is entitled Fascination Emergence. The concept of emergence (Latin emergere “to emerge”, “to come forth”, “to rise”) can be found in all scientific disciplines and describes the possibility of the development of new system properties or structures of a system as a result of the interaction of its elements.
“Emergence occurs in the flock of birds, in the neurons of the brain, in the artificial intelligence of computers, but also in the social world, in groups and societies. The explanation (and description) of reality can reveal “new” elements that are not present in the individual components. ¹”
Whether chaos theories, an artist’s brilliant idea or a volcanic eruption, everything is based on emergence. Just as Hundertwasser architecture is more impressive than the sum of its individual parts, the Polish-German art project TransMission will produce the unpredictable in addition to cultural and communication exchange in public space. The principle of the incalculable also resonates in the artistic contributions to the €ruptiva project.
