Border Crossings between Reality and Cyberspace – Media Art in Hanover
As an associated partner of the 11th Asia–Europe Mediation Biennale titled “Multiverse – Metaverse”, the Kunstverein Kunsthalle Hannover presents the extensive media art project MetaMindHouses at the Städtische Galerie KUBUS in the city center of Hanover, as well as the media and light art project LIGHTwaves at the Kesselhaus Linden and in the surrounding area of the Faust Cultural Center.
With around 50 artists from Lower Saxony and beyond, MetaMindHouses and LIGHTwaves offer unusual artistic perspectives on the boundaries between science, philosophy, and utopia. The thematic focus lies on human/nature interaction, communication, and energy transfer. Visitors will encounter multimedia and research-based projects, light installations, and projections on-site at the KUBUS ground floor, in the adjacent public space, and on the Faust grounds. In cyberspace, they can explore an interactive universe. The accompanying program includes workshops on virtual and augmented reality, as well as AI-based applications.
A rich supporting program features panel discussions with curators, artist talks, performances, workshops, and guided tours for various audiences across Hanover. It invites the local community to playfully engage and become participants rather than mere consumers of digital and analog worlds.
