Farewell exhibition of the Kunstverein Kunsthalle Hannover with Kain Karawahn and group exhibition of regional and international artists
With BrennWEITEN @ ArtAffair as the second part of the participatory project ‘BrennWEITEN’ realised in 2023, the Kunstverein Kunsthalle Hannover is continuing the concept of Berlin artist Kain Karawahn, which was initiated in various districts of Hanover and accompanied by a seminar on fire competence, and which deals with the relationship between humans and fire in the visual and performing arts in theory and practice.
At the same time, the Kunstverein Kunsthalle Hannover will be saying goodbye to the exhibition hall it has used for many years on the grounds of the Faust cultural centre at the end of 2024. And as Miguel de Unamuno, Spanish philosopher, poet and essayist, once said: ‘In every end lies a new beginning, and behind every beginning lies a new adventure…’ So this is an occasion to join us in shaping and celebrating the end of an era and a new beginning. For this reason, we have invited Kain Karawahn to develop the framework concept for the second part of ‘BrennWEITEN’ as a ‘fireplace’ that can be an artistic starting point for reflection, exchange and networking between groups of art and cultural actors, politicians and the general public.
In addition, the Kunstverein Kunsthalle Hannover presents annual editions and works by artists from Lower Saxony and beyond who have previously been represented at the Kunsthalle Faust or are associated with the Kunstverein. ‘BrennWEITEN @ ArtAffair’ therefore cordially invites you to join in conversations about art at the “fireplace” with snacks and drinks by candlelight.
The exciting accompanying programme offers, among other things, participation in a ‘World Fire Salon’ and a public auction ‘Art in Focus’, which takes place on the last weekend of the exhibition with a concluding finissage with mulled wine and finger food. All works of art can be purchased at auction on the final day. In addition to paintings, drawings, photography and objects, multiples will also be on offer.
